about
Erica Desmond
As the founder and owner of seedtree llc, I am dedicated to the cultivation and stewardship of ecologically resilient landscapes. I’m a NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP) and strive to provide the highest standards of organic and ecological land care, supporting healthy soils, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability.
My education and training come from interconnected disciplines and experiences which continue to inform and inspire my gardening and design practices. I’m an active member of The Native Plant Trust, Ecological Landscape Alliance, Association of Professional Landscape Designers, New Hampshire Landscape Association, Northeast Organic Farmers Association (NOFA), and NOFA-NH. I hold a BA in Human Ecology from the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME, with a focus on ecology/biological sciences, design, and education. I have a strong ethic in stewardship and monitoring, developed during my work on seabird and habitat restoration. I’m an advocate for food security and regenerative farming practices, with many years experience growing organic berries, vegetables, and seedlings for my family and community.
I’m also an artist by nature and training, and see landscapes as both ecological systems and creative expressions. My apprenticeship as a shamanic practitioner has further deepened my relationship with the natural world, strengthening my ability to listen to and work in partnership with the land. The work here at seedtree cannot help but be influenced by the incredible experiences I had while immersed in gardens, arboretums, community parks, and green spaces during a 14-month bicycle journey through Japan, China, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Europe.
My lifelong love of learning and teaching has shaped my collaborative and client-centered approach, and I am passionate about empowering others to better understand, care for, and connect with their landscapes. Whether you’re looking for a new design, wanting to make an existing space more ecologically resilient, or you’d like support tackling a project on your own, I am here to help!
